Brixton

Some where in 1993

Whilst standing on the platform waiting for my train, I could not help but notice a man walking up the platform engrossed in reading his newspaper. What caught my eye, and the eyes of all the passengers around me was that as he walked along, for every step he took he was veering closer and closer to the track.. We watched horrified and transfixed as with each step he went further and further to his left.

No one said a word, not me or any of those around me who could all see what was about to happen. Inevitably he finally tumbled headlong over the side and on to the track. We ran to help him and with a terrified look on his face he scuffled his way back on to the platform covered in sooty filth.

He boarded the next train and probably took some time to think how lucky he had been.
